Why are Kenyans protesting?

  Kenya is in the grips of nationwide protests against some proposed draconian taxes, culminating in Tuesday's total shutdown of the country, which swiftly turned into anarchy as police used tear gas and live rounds on protesters. Though, this was supposed to be one of the peaceful processions the country has ever witnessed, things got escalated, which resulted in the death of some people, whilst several of them also sustained severe injuries. According to the head of the Kenya Medical Association, 13 people have  calamitously lost their lives. WHY ARE THE PEOPLE PROTESTING? The people are protesting against some nuisance taxes. They want the government to abandon or halt these  proposed or planned taxes, which they argue will choke the economy and raise the cost of living for Kenyans who are already reeling under the current economic hardship that has bedeviled the country. DataLink University Gears Up For Its 12th SRC Week Celebration

The SRC President, Nene, as he's affectionately called, together with his executives have outlined a list of amazing activities ahead of this year's celebration. This year's SRC  celebration will last from Saturday, 18th May, 2024 to Sunday, 26th May, 2024.  On Saturday, May 18, 2024, there's going to be float, Aerobics  and picnic launch from 6am in the morning to 2pm in the afternoon around the outskirts of Tema Metropolis as well as Campus Annex. Ghana's Parliament passes Anti-LGBTQ bill into law

 Ghana's Parliament on Wednesday,  28th February 2024 passed the Anti-LGBTQ bill into law. The bill seeks to uphold proper human sexual rights and Ghanaian family values, while prohibiting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and related activities. Persons who are found guilty or engaged in same sex activities will face a jail term ranging from six months to three years with a more severe punishment of three to five years for promoters and activities of LGBTQ rights. The bill, which  was sponsored by a group of leaders in Ghana is expected to be signed into law by the President of the Republic of Ghana Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo.
