Niger's ousted president to be prosecuted for high treason.

 The military junta that seized power in Niger in a July 26 coup said late on Sunday that ousted President could be prosecuted for high treason.

The spokesperson for the junta, Colonel Amadou Abdrame said on state Tv that the leaders of the coup have gathered enough evidence to prosecute the deposed President, Mohamed Bazoum for high treason.

Mr. Mohamed Bazoum has been held at the Presidential palace in Niamey together with his wife and son since mutinous soldiers moved against him on July 26.

According to source, the family is currently living without electricity and only has rice and canned goods left to eat.
